What if I told you that the team which went 0-18 in the Big 12 last year and lost their first tournament game in Kansas City, is the last unbeaten in the conference?

The TCU Horned Frogs are that team.  Sitting at a perfect 10-0 including wins over 3 teams from “Power 5” conferences, TCU has looked impressive so far.  While they still lack the depth and consistency to contend in the Big 12 for a championship, I’ll use the help of Major League to say that the Horned Frogs “are threatening to climb out of the cellar.”  TCU has received votes in the rankings.  In basketball!  It’s almost like a parallel universe.  The real question, can the Frogs make their first NCAA Tournament since 1998?

Similar to TCU, about 300 miles west of Fort Worth, is Texas Tech.  The Red Raiders are 7-1 with their lone loss coming on the road against LSU.  One thing that Tubby Smith’s Texas Tech squad is lacking is quality wins.  The Red Raiders have one win against a “Power 5” team, Auburn.  The young Red Raiders are poised to do damage in the Big 12, but it looks more like that will come about next year more so than this year, unlike veteran TCU.

Oklahoma State shocked many by blowing out Memphis for a second straight year Saturday night in Memphis.  Otherwise, the conference’s most impressive win was No. 14 Iowa State, 90-75 at Iowa.
